With the new season quickly approaching we are looking forward to an exciting season and hope to be as successful as last year. With our Division 1 and our Under 14's teams winning their Grand Final's last year we have a lot to live up to!

Coaching Staff

Division 1 Coach:    Mark Born. Mark is a former Claxton Shield player for South Australia and                                       Capps Medalist.
Assistant Coach 1:   Mark Gruetner - 2007 Division 1 Premiership Coach.
Assistant Coach 2:   Darren Stead - 2007 Division 1 Assistant Premiership Coach.

The club sees the need to improve our coaching depth and so we are pleased to announce the appointment of the following people:

Coaching Director - All Grades: David Mundy
David is an inaugural inductee of the Australian Baseball Hall of Fame. He is a past             premiership player for our club who has represented and coached Australia at national        and international level. He is also a Capps Medalist.

Pitching Coach: Wayne Durbidge.
Wayne has played at national and international levels as a pitcher and is a past premiership player with Port Adelaide. He has also worked as a major league scout for a number of American Ball Clubs.

Batting Coach - Kevin Greatrex.
Kevin in an inaugural inductee of the Australian Baseball Hall of Fame. He is a past             premiership coach and player for Port Adelaide and has represented Australian in international competition on numerous occasions. He played professional baseball in America in the early part of his career.

As you can see from the credentials of these people, the Management Committee is committed to offering the highest level of coaching support. We hope this will encourage all players to commit and improve during the coming season.

We are still looking for coaches to volunteer for some senior and junior teams. If you are interested please contact Ron Hocking at 8449 3745.

IMPORTANT NEWS REGARDING JUNIOR FEE’S

FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER!
Due to a generous sponsor Port Adelaide Baseball Club junior players, right through from Little League to Under 18’s, will not have to pay playing Fee’s. There will only be a $50 Capitation (Insurance) fee per player that we pay the South Australian Baseball League.
More details on Senior’s Fee’s will be coming soon.

Training Dates
Seniors:

Here's the good news, official senior training starts on Sunday 3rd August, 2008 at Seaton High School commencing at 9.00am sharp and Wednesdays commencing 6th August, 2008 at Greatrex Sports starting at 6.00 pm. This schedule will be in place for the month of August. Follow up sessions will be announced by coaching staff further into the month.

Juniors:

Training for juniors will start at Port Adelaide Baseball Club on Sunday 31st August commencing at 10.00am. This is also registration day and there will be a free sausage sizzle after training.
